Poet, storyteller, fairytale author

Ged Thompson is the author of books: Middle Earth Magic, Diaries of a Man who Believes in Angels, and The Little Book of Heart Medicine. His work has been published online and in print in magazines such as La Vida Liverpool where he is part of the ‘La Vida Liverpool Poets series’ showcasing some of the best spoken word artists in Liverpool and the North West.

Ged currently lives in Liverpool in a house with a monkey puzzle tree and his son Buddy. When he’s not working as an electrician you can find him mostly watching sunsets, writing something or other, or playing on a guitar. He likes kids and old people the best, but has a few favourite adults — those adults usually think like kids or old people though! He hopes you enjoy his books.

Performer, educator, workshop facilitator

Ged has performed his work, and been a guest author and facilitator, at festivals such as: Conscious Tribal Gathering, Conscious Camp, Fire in the Mountain, and Cheltenham Literature Festival. He also runs poetry workshops in schools and nursing homes.

He has a keen social media following for his video readings and online journal entries, which draw from his everyday life — covering themes such as nature, mental health, fatherhood, the extraordinary to be found within the ordinary, and most of all: hope.

Ged eloquently recognises that both beauty and pain are closer to each other than one might imagine. His vision illuminates the world in such enchanting ways that it makes you appreciate your place within it.

There is the sense when you encounter Ged’s work – on the page, read aloud, or accompanied by music – that the writing is only an extension of a core self, a way of seeing, of being in the world. These are the artists we need.
— Beth L. Thompson, author and poet
Ged Thompson writes about his life with a clarity and beauty which enriches the life of anyone who reads it. His writing makes you laugh and cry and think, sometimes all three at the same time, and deserves to be read over and over again.
